ReSolve is a collection, sorting and preparation site in Byron Bay. Homeowners, installers and businesses bring us panels, inverters and mounting hardware at end of life. We weigh them, log them, and prepare them for material recovery or a second life.

The scale of it

Australia is retiring solar faster than it can recycle it.

Modelled estimates, not measured figures. Interpolated from Clean Energy Council and NSW Government projections of 59,340 tonnes in 2025 rising to 91,165 tonnes by 2030, at an assumed 20 kg per panel. These will be replaced by real ReSolve throughput data as it accumulates.

01 — Recycling

Collection, sorting and preparation

Equipment is received, separated by material stream and prepared for onward material recovery. Panels and inverters are dismantled on site and the metals separated for transport.

02 — Repurposing

Back into service, not into landfill

Panels, inverters and complete systems with working life left are tested, graded and returned to use rather than destroyed.

03 — Research

Working with universities

We partner with research institutions on how end-of-life renewable equipment is best handled, and share the data we collect.

Most people have no idea where old panels are supposed to go. That is the gap we exist to close. Drive in with what you have, or ask us to collect it.

Every arrival is weighed and logged before it goes anywhere. You leave with a record of what you handed over.

Where we are

Byron Bay, right off the highway.

The site sits directly on the Pacific Highway with northbound and southbound access, twenty minutes from Ballina Airport and thirty from the Gold Coast.

That matters for a collection site. Heavy vehicles get in and out without touching local roads, and a homeowner with a ute-load of panels is not driving into an industrial estate on the far side of town.

    A hive of local industrial businesses on a former car-wrecking site.
  • Twenty minutes to Ballina Airport
    Thirty to Gold Coast Airport. Connected to national supply lines.

Accountability

Weighed, logged, and on the record.

Nothing crosses the threshold without being weighed, logged and serial-number registered. That discipline is what makes a certificate mean something, and what turns a pile of old panels into usable national data.

  • Certification on request
    Documented proof that equipment was handled and processed correctly, for sustainability reporting obligations.
  • We do not currently accept batteries
    Solar equipment only for now. Battery drop-off is something we are looking into, and the site may take them in future.
  • No chemical processing
    This is a collection, sorting and preparation site. No liquids, no odour, no emissions.
Education

What is actually inside a solar panel.

Most of a panel is glass and aluminium. Almost all of it is recoverable — the problem has never been the material, it has been having somewhere to take it.
